Julie

It was so freaking cold that every part of my body went numb. It had been awhile since I had any feeling in my arms and legs. Jace had been at it for an hour at least, running as fast as he could.

He was able to dodge trees with ease and when we hit streams or creeks, he just plowed right through.

Very impressive stamina. But hey, I’d already experienced his stamina first-hand.

I smirked into his fur. Did it count if no one could see it?

If I fell asleep, would I roll off into the snow? What then? My head drooped to one side.

I pictured my fantasy Caribbean vacation with Jace. He’d seemed up for it last night. I’d never been to Grand Cayman. After a romantic flight, we’d rent a cabana on the beach and sink our toes into the sand. I looked forward to sipping margaritas while the sun beat down on us.

I imagined inside our cabana on an already secluded beach. The sun would set, casting an amber glow over the sea. I’d spread my legs so Jace could see how wet I was for him. How ready.

He’d make me hold onto the legs of the chaise lounge while he pushed my knees farther apart. He’d pull his swollen staff from his swim trunks and rub it over my heaving breasts. Then he’d rub it over my stomach, trailing his way slowly down to my wet cave. I couldn’t help a small giggle; I couldn’t stop with the bear jokes even when I wasn’t trying.

The wetter I got, the more he’d rub until I begged him to fill me up for the first time.

The second time, immediately after, would be in the ocean while warm ocean waves crested over our bodies.

Mmmm.

I really needed to tell him about this fantasy.

I think he’d like it. “Hey, Jace…we should get a towel. You can wear a—”

I slipped sideways.

At least I’d die now, loopy from a nice beach fantasy with Jace, instead of with Dimitri and his goons.

I fell.

For a second, I was weightless. The snow would be cold, but it would kill me quickly.

Goodbye, Jace. I know it’s fast, but I think I love you.

Love?

Did I love Jace? I was pretty sure that I did.

I blinked.

Instead of lying face-down in the icy snow, I was being shaken by an irate Jace. A very human Jace. “Julie. You cannot sleep. I know this is terrible. But you have to stay awake.”

My face went to a scowl. “Did you slap me?”

Regret clouded Jace’s handsome face. “I didn’t know what else to do.”

My frown turned into a grin. “Don’t feel sad. It worked. Hey. Are you naked? That’s nice.” I tried to touch his well-developed pecs but my hand didn’t cooperate.

“Julie,” he barked. “Pay attention.”

“What?”

Why was Jace cross? He was really nice looking. He should be happy about that and also about our future trip to the beach. I wanted to touch him. But I couldn't make my arms work. Speaking of my hands, Jace had somehow tucked them under his arms.
